Euskorpora participated in the LDS Workshop on Speech Recognition Solutions, a workshop organized by the European Language Data Space (LDS) and the European Commission, which brought together experts from different European countries to address the challenges and opportunities in the development of automatic speech recognition (ASR) solutions.
On behalf of Euskorpora, Leire Barañano, general manager, was a speaker on the panel dedicated to the legal aspects of the use and processing of voice data, together with representatives of universities and research centers from Latvia and Slovenia. The discussion, moderated by Simon Krek (University of Ljubljana), addressed key issues on ethical and legal management of speech data, privacy, consent and reuse of voice recordings in multilingual contexts.
The event also included panel discussions on topics such as collaboration with national broadcasters, the use of parliamentary data, crowdsourcing of speech data, project costs and funding, as well as future perspectives for speech applications. The workshop was opened by representatives of the European Commission and was attended by more than a dozen experts from universities, governments and technology centers from all over Europe.
Euskorpora’s participation in this forum reinforces its commitment to a robust, ethical and linguistic diversity-focused language data infrastructure, including languages such as Basque. It also consolidates its role as an active interlocutor in the European language technology ecosystem.
